Weirdpoetics 2 / June ’19

Weird times, again. After a delayed winter of abstract rites and a lightening-quick spring of sweating bodies, summertime arrived. A strange summer indeed, full of underground extravaganza. Of course, that’s exactly why we’re here. We begin our second kermesse with Giorgio Gabber (aka Delmore FX), an experienced chemist of avant-world and post-world sounds. His sophisticated electroacoustic language made of experimental newness and folk oldness — thought as strictly otherworldly — will make you listen, dance and think obliquely. A week after, we give carte blanche to the label ArteTetra. These guys have been delivering “obscure sounds & exotic powers” for some time now, and they are ready to showcase such powers through a multiform series of acts: Babau, Senor Service, Reptilian Expo (DJ-set) and Matteo Coffetti (DJ-set). A four-part chance to experience to what extent experimental music and clubbing communities are merging today. Next up, we host a remarkably eccentric triplet: Piotr Kurek, a resourceful musician from Poland who happens to be the creator of Smutaż parties in Warsaw; Ottaven, the sound project of inter-multi-disciplinary artist Canedicoda, and dirty electronics and pink noise lover Luca Collivasone (Cacophonator). If Piotr is our door to weird perceptions and Giovanni is the keyhole to peer through, Luca is the key to crack that door wide open. For the last rendez-vous with June’s weirdness, we decided to save a gig for ourselves. There are few weirder things within Spettro, in fact, than Spettro itself. So there's nothing else you need to conclude this kermesse than an offbeat and freakish Spettro Residents night. We’ll make sure you’ll exceed your own formal expectations, for weirdness is our daily bread. Four bombs of live new music and DJ-sets to leave the gray days behind and embrace the unknown. And while we watch the temperature rise, we will prove that June is the fresher of the months, with World Music Aperitifs, home-brewed carbonated drinks, powerful ventilators and hand-cut ice cubes.

Artetetra

Artetetra is a tape label born in 2014 in Potenza Picena, a small italian town where Farfisa organs were manufactured in the 60’s. After some home-dubbed releases of projects related to Luigi and Matteo (founders of the label) and their friends, the label has started to release cassettes of acts like Kink Gong, Holypalms and Ak’chamel, always keeping a particular interest on exotic, weird and psychedelic sounds, redefined as Quinto Mondo music. The spring releases “Exotic ésotérique vol.2” and “Jungle Judgin” got the attention of the music journalist Simon Reynolds who wrote about it on the 400th issue of The Wire magazine. The cult Italian label is now based in Bologna and has started to perform a A/V live show concerning cassette tape selection/ manipulation and video projection.
